Freedom Park Center’s 17,400 square-foot design has three major sections – a Veterans Center, a Senior Center, and the Royal Credit Union Community Event Center – around a central commercial kitchen, classrooms and office space, plus a concession center that opens onto the surrounding athletic fields.

The VFW and the City of New Richmond will partner on the operation of the Freedom Park Center when the building is complete, as defined in a signed MOU between the two organizations. Ongoing maintenance will be shared with the city and the VFW, but the Center will operate as a “budget neutral” facility and not a profit venture for either the city or the VFW. Community partners will be expected to pay rent for the spaces they occupy, with costs based on square footage and an operational needs assessment. The Community Event Center will be offered for private events, but no permanent bar or restaurant is planned, as there is no intent to compete with local businesses.

The vision of the Freedom Park Center is to become a major, permanent community resource for New Richmond and St. Croix County. The Center will be a unique, centrally-located source for services provided by veterans organizations and other community-service organizations to people across the region.
